A former journalist, John has published two novels, High Stakes Fantasy–An Alternative Reality Sports Thriller (2012) and DreamCatcher Games (2002). While not watching or reading about baseball, he is busy drafting his third novel.
John has taken in games at eight Major League and at least a dozen minor league ballparks. Honorable mention: attended a Major League spring training game held in Mexicali, Mexico. More parks are in his travel plans.

Winner of national and local reporting awards. Thousands of bylines as a staff reporter and freelancer for L.A. Times, San Diego Union-Tribune, Sport Magazine, Elysian Fields Quarterly, San Diego Magazine, North County Times, Associated Press, others.
As a newsman, he covered police, courts, politics, sports, entertainment, business, labor, government, education, technology, travel, health care, you name it. Also was in-house PR director for three major San Diego universities and one of the largest community colleges in the nation.
